Sinus Lift
Sinus Lift Surgery
In the posterior region of the upper jaw, significant bone height reduction can occur due to bone resorption, especially following the loss of molar teeth. This condition prevents the placement of dental implants due to insufficient bone height. The procedure performed to increase the bone height in this area is called a sinus lift (elevation of the sinus membrane).
The sinus lift procedure is typically performed prior to implant surgery and is applied when necessary. During the operation, an access window is created inside the mouth on the cheek side of the upper jaw, and the sinus membrane is carefully lifted upward. The created space is then filled with bone graft material.
After a sinus lift, implants can often be placed during the same session. However, in some cases, it may be necessary to wait approximately 6 months to allow for bone healing and ossification. Once healing is complete, the implants are then placed.
